How to use Autoptimize effectively?
1) After activating the plugin go to the plugin settings page ( Settings->Autoptimize )
2) Click “Show advanced settings” button to view all available options.
3) Enable HTML optimization. Optimizing HTML removes line breaks, eliminates white space and removes comments. These elements are not necessary for a production website and removing these elements will reduce page output size significantly.
4) In the Javascript Options, enable “Optimize JavaScript Code” and “Also aggregate inline JS”. The plugin will combines all of the JavaScript files in your WordPress website into a single file. Javascript optimization may cause some issues on some WordPress themes. So if you notice any problem on your website after activating this option, disable javascript optimization or contact your theme’s author to get information about the problematic scripts. You can add these scripts to the “Exclude scripts from Autoptimize” field to use javascript optimization properly.
5) In the CSS Options, enable “Optimize CSS Code” and “Also aggregate inline CSS”. To enable other options may cause some visual issues on some WordPress themes.
6) Finally click “Save Changes and Empty Cache” button.
